It's tough for Australia to break new ground.

The greatest achievements have already been conquered.

This is the unit that has claimed seven Cricket World Cups, in addition to another six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed nearly four years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, the ones sought by the peak baggers, are the only things left for a squad that has won it all.

That it took up to Sunday's three-wicket win over India for them to accomplish their maiden ODI chase over 300, taking back their record for the largest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, honestly, a tribute to the bowling attack that have worn canary yellow over the past 50 years.

It is hard for their hitters to maintain a record if not provided the chance.

In the end, the consequence of Australia conceding 330 was captain Alyssa Healy receiving an opportunity to create her latest masterpiece.

The question of whether this recent magnificent innings topped that previous effort remains open for discussion.

Some will argue the case for final game tension. Different voices suggest with the challenge that comes when pursuing an unprecedented total and an enthusiastic Indian fanbase of 20,000.

What's definite is this ton was far harder to see coming.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 came as she led the batting statistics, but this performance came after six matches in India over the past few weeks in which she had failed to pass 30.

"If you've observed me in the nets, it has been a frustrating experience because it appeared I lacked timing at all," stated Healy.

"However when you enter the playing area, your competitive nature take over and you completely engage with the contest."

Healy's competitive nature has consistently been her key asset - and an invaluable trait in taking over from famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, out to the 22-year-old seamer in all three matches, but on this occasion it simply offered Healy's motivation.

A single came off the bowler's initial ball and from there the right-hander was in motion.

"An opportunity to take the field and face the challenge with her and merely enjoy the moment in that regard, sort of got me going," commented Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 pitches - her quickest at the global tournament - and her century in 84 deliveries while she punished short deliveries, striking 21 boundaries and three sixes.

By the time she was out her side required another 66 at one run per ball - an unconquered height now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Chasing 330 runs is new territory so I am glad we have the assurance to achieve that now," continued Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to repeat it but, if necessary, we believe we can achieve it."

Those words will be the last Australia's opponents at this World Cup need to hear.

Over the past five days a sense they will win from any position has grown stronger - this success coming after success over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite sitting at 76-7 at one point.

Subsequently Australia meet Bangladesh before a meeting with old rivals England in Indore in ten days, by which point a semi-final place may likely be confirmed.

It was at that stage they left the previous year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a match Healy couldn't play because of damaged tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the first time at a major tournament.

So strong is her resolve, she afterwards commented she wished she had played despite the injury.

However although she subsequently acknowledged those injuries have postponed plans to retire, this championship is expected to be her last as captain in ODI cricket and she is still to achieve a world championship as skipper.

Success in India would bring her to the top of her last major obstacle.
