US entertainer Pat Finn, who was seen in iconic programs such as "Friends", "Seinfeld" and "The Middle", has passed away aged 60.

The comedic improv actor died at home in Los Angeles, California this Monday following treatment for cancer beginning in 2022, as reported by media reports.

"Pat never met a stranger - just potential friends he had yet to meet," his relatives stated in a message.

They noted that he had "experienced life to the fullest - with happiness and energy".

An Extensive Television Career

His initial on-screen part was on a show starring George Wendt in 1995, where he appeared as the brother of the main character.

He also had a repeating character on Murphy Brown from 1995 to 1997.

He played the part of a party host named Joe Mayo in "Seinfeld" in the late 90s, playing a party host famous for delegating burdensome jobs to his guests.

Throughout the end of the 90s and start of the 2000s, he appeared as a guest star on several well-known programs, such as:

  • "King of Queens"
  • Friends
  • That '70s Show
  • House, M.D.

Finn was perhaps best known for his portrayal of Bill Norwood in The Middle, featuring across eight seasons over nearly a decade.

His cinematic roles include It's Complicated (2009) and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.

A Life in Improv

Beyond his on-screen roles, Finn was deeply involved in improvisational comedy and worked as a teacher at the University of Colorado, where he was a professor.

He was part of a six-person improv troupe known as Beer Shark Mice.

"He taught, supported, and inspired numerous pupils during his career and it's nearly impossible to find anyone anyplace who has an unkind word to say about him," his relatives stated.

Paying homage, peer Richard Kind remarked there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, grounded individual you could encounter".

"Consistently upbeat, assisting others to improve and be funnier. A wonderful father and man," he posted online.

Finn is remembered by his partner Donna, his children, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
