Football Analyst Sutton Battles Singer Murs in Top Flight Forecasts

The Gunners' ten-match victorious run was ended by the Black Cats before the international hiatus, however can the Premier League frontrunners recover against local foes Tottenham this weekend?

"{I believe like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a plan for this match," stated football specialist Chris Sutton.

"The Spurs manager will attempt to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling finest this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's team usually still find a way to win."

The analyst is making predictions for all 380 Premier League games this term, versus artificial intelligence, readers and a variety of guests.

In week 12, he takes on singer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United supporter.

Murs' latest record, Knees Up, is available on Friday.

Football and Family Experiences

Murs is a skilled soccer player as well as a accomplished artist and has been a featured player of multiple Soccer Aid matches over time - but he is not intending a professional comeback as a player.

"{I recently played in a charity game the other night for a friend of mine," he explained. "The side was losing 3-1 when I came off in the 60th minute, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you will!

"I still love football, but I hurt my joint a few years ago and it still isn't where I want it to be. I wish I could play more but the unpredictability of the game means it's too dangerous for me in my career to do it properly again.

"Plus I am 41 now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am gearing up for the moment that my child or boy decides to play instead."

The singer and his wife his partner have two children, their daughter and their son, and he is prepared to follow in his father's footsteps by taking on the role of their manager.

"I will not push football on our children but I've previously told my wife that if they do get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will probably be managing their Saturday soccer team," he added.

"I watched my nephews play a lot, and I really got into it, and I clearly owned a soccer team for a period too.

"My father coached with us when I was a kid, which is probably where I inherited it. He coached our side for two or three years and had great fun with it. That could be the next step for me as well, and I am excited to it!"

Premier League Forecasts

Saturday, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

Chelsea may have to be patient for Cole Palmer's return from injury but their offense is already stronger with Pedro and Delap both returned to fitness.

I still think this game will be quite tight, though. The Clarets are disciplined and their only home defeats so far have been against Liverpool and the Gunners.

This suggests a 1-1 tie to me, but I am actually going to go with the London side to edge it for what would be their third consecutive Premier League win in a row.

The expert's forecast: 1-2

The singer's pick: Chelsea will be too strong. 1-3

AI's prediction: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Bournemouth have been defeated in their past two games - although both of them were on the road - but they got thoroughly beaten by Villa last time out which shocked me.

In contrast, West Ham secured back-to-back victories before the hiatus and, although both of those fixtures were at their stadium, they do look strong again.

West Ham's only away win this campaign came at Nottingham Forest in the summer, when West Ham boss Nuno Espirito Santo was previously Forest manager.

Therefore, what exactly do I predict here - will it be the Hammers extending their run under their manager, or Bournemouth bouncing back?

I will choose the Cherries, because I believe what happened against Villa was a blip.

Sutton's forecast: 2-0

Olly's prediction: Bournemouth are doing well but the visitors have improved under their boss. 2-2

AI's pick: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Brentford were considered one of the frontrunners for relegation before the campaign started, but they have impressed a few observers under Keith Andrews and are in fine fettle with three wins in their past four matches.

My son told me to get Brentford striker Thiago in my Fantasy Football team a few weeks ago and, guess what, I ignored the advice.

Thiago will likely score again on Saturday but I am still not going to select him or support the away side at Amex Stadium.

They have not had great success on the road this season, and Brighton are always strong at their stadium. Brentford will try to attack on the break but I think Fabian Hurzeler's side pose much more of a threat.

The analyst's forecast: 2-1

Olly's prediction: This could be a match where you think there is going to be a lot of goals but it actually turns out to be rather close. 1-1

The computer's outcome: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

It is a huge fixture for the Cottagers, who have lost five of their last six games.

They have got lots of talent in their squad but it still seems like they could be sucked into a relegation battle.

Regarding Sunderland, indeed they are the unexpected success of the top flight campaign so far.

The away side's display in the 2-2 draw with Arsenal last time out was superb. We have not witnessed anyone else rough up the North London side like that this season, and Sunderland were more than a match for them.

The logical choice would be to support the Black Cats here, because they are obviously capable of disrupting the hosts up too and, the previous occasion they were in west London, they beat Chelsea at the close of October.

However I am not do that. Rather, I really need to carry on going against the away team with my forecasts. I am claiming a lot of responsibility for their positive results because they evidently love to prove me wrong.

Considering the home side's at Craven Cottage form, the only side they have lost to is the league leaders. Marco Silva's side will be extremely eager for a good outcome, so I am going to predict they will secure three points.

The expert's prediction: 1-0

The guest's choice: I'm aware the visitors are doing well and additionally that the hosts are on a poor streak... but Fulham have nonetheless been decent at Craven Cottage this campaign. 2-0

AI's prediction: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

It is a hard one to call. The Reds have suffered seven of their last ten matches in every tournament, but could they be among the teams who profit from the {international break|
