NFL 2025 season: Week six

Real-time updates features live text for the weekend matchups via various channels, beginning with the Broncos-Jets clash at Tottenham (from 14:00 BST). Also, audio coverage is available through select stations covering a separate game (from 21:00 BST).

We're in the sixth week in the football calendar , following recent talk regarding two top teams as a potential Super Bowl match-up, each surrendered their unbeaten records.

Striking during those contests were the amount of infractions each conceded. Philadelphia committed them at crucial times so they essentially beat themselves after leading 17-3 going into the final quarter against the Denver Broncos, who play in London this Sunday.

But it proved good to observe that Denver's QB Bo Nix managed to overcome that deficit before direct three scoring drives in three attempts during the final period, securing the victory by four points.

The Broncos have the defensive player of the year with CB their star corner. They are first in red zone defence, whereas the Eagles are number one in scoring near the end zone, yet the Broncos won that contest.

They had the Eagles' number in terms of simulated pressure. They did not necessarily sending more than four pass rushers instead they might plug two LBs in the 'A' gap then withdrawing them and send a slot defender from the outside.

Early on in the campaign, we said during a show that the Broncos could be this season's surprise contenders. They ended the previous year well and did a good job of building upon that.

Are the Denver Broncos this year's dark horses?

Recently acquired TE their tight end has stepped up significantly while recent RB their rusher is a guy the team trusts. He's currently fifth league-wide in ground gains (402) and tied for fourth in rushing scores (four).

I love how head coach the Broncos' leader displays "RUN IT!" at the top of his playcall sheet.

That shows that Denver are a squad that wants to run first, since one can do a lot based on that approach. It reduces down the pass rush and maintains in positive situations.

This has helped QB the young passer, who came the NFL as the 12th overall draft pick in the prior draft, throwing 29 TDs – just behind Justin Herbert in rookie records (31 in 2020).

Josh Allen and Herbert have powerful arms to pass anywhere, but they don't move in the same way that Nix has. He boasts incredible passing ability, a unique trait, and he's highly agile.

His strengths are his movement, the capacity to throw while moving, and using varied release points to make throws when he rolls outside protection, the bootlegs. He is able to deliver that layered pass over the middle and over the corner.

For a young quarterback, at 25, he's got great composure in the pocket and isn't really fazed by the blitz. He aims to avoid being tackled as much as possible and can throw in tight spots. He has sharp intelligence and remains quick to decide.

When you consistently rush it consumes the clock and forces the defence to be in play for longer, and if you've got an athletic quarterback the defence has to defend the field vertically side to side. This proves exhausting.

Nix has bitten back at Payton on the sideline at times and I think Payton appreciates that fire, that he's such a competitor. In my view it's exciting for him to have a young quarterback who's kind of like play-dough. He can truly build something up the way he wants to shape him. I think it's a unique opportunity for the coach.

The head coach owns a Super Bowl and now surpassed a legend in all-time victories (173, tying for 14th). He's seen it all. I think the achievements Denver are having offensively is largely due to his guidance, his play-calling, his situational awareness – and the pairing with the QB aids make him into who he is.

There's no better a better guy guiding you, to help you through difficult moments and build confidence.

I have faith in Denver's defence, in the QB's grit and calm. But are they strong enough to face an elite team at full strength? Since that was not a Super Bowl performance from Philadelphia in their last game.

Currently, I don't think the Broncos are elite. They're performing above average, which is a solid position to hold the AFC West. The key to do to continue this path.

They excel at embracing their forte, which is the ground game, and this is exactly what they should do versus the New York Jets in London. It will likely be a Dobbins-focused game, in essence.

New York have allowed 140 yards on the ground per game (sixth worst), five ground scores so far (10th worst), and they are the only team yet to win any game.

Since the NFL started recording turnovers decades ago, this team are the first team to go without a single takeaway in five outings, this is surprising considering that their new coach Aaron Glenn defensive co-ordinator at the Detroit Lions.

The Chiefs' QB stated the Chiefs have 'already lost too many games' after Monday's defeat by the Jaguars.

After the upcoming matchup, Denver have a manageable slate until their bye (in week twelve) - the Giants, the Cowboys, Houston Texans and the Raiders before the Chiefs.

In the AFC West, Kansas City hold a losing record and the Broncos are even with the Chargers on 3-2 meaning they could challenge at leading the division.

This hinges on which form of the Chiefs they face because the Broncos {beat|def
