The UK is ready to advance with employing the total value of immobilized Russian funds to bolster the Ukrainian war effort, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has declared.

In a joint statement, the leaders of the Britain, France, and Germany asserted that this joint measure would escalate tension on Russia's leader Vladimir Putin and urge Russia to engage in negotiations.

They further noted that the move would be carried out in tight collaboration with the United States.

British penalties have immobilized in excess of £25bn of Russian funds since the Russian government launched its full-scale invasion against the Ukrainian nation in 2022. However, until now, money allocated to Ukraine using Russia's holdings had only been sourced from earnings and returns accrued on them.

Sir Keir assured President Volodymyr Zelensky that the United Kingdom, France, and the Federal Republic of Germany were aligned in their desire to drive progress toward employing the full value of the immobilized Moscow's national assets to conclude the conflict.

He added that additional restrictions in the coming days and weeks would increase the strain on the Russian government.

This statement follows EU representatives convened in Copenhagen last week to consider utilizing seized Russia's assets for a €140 billion financial aid to Ukraine.

Last month, US President Donald Trump called on Group of Seven partners to seize or otherwise use seized Russian assets, based on media sources.

The total of seized Russia's assets in the EU is assessed to be approximately €211bn.

The Russian government launched widespread aerial attacks all over the Ukrainian territory on that day, resulting in electricity outages in large parts of Kyiv, the city, and eight other regions.

Several persons were fatally injured and at least 20 people were injured in the attack, the Ukrainian government said.

In a post on an online platform following the incident, Zelensky wrote that the premeditated assault targeted non-military and power facilities.

"Each restrictive measure diminishes Russia's war machine," Zelensky wrote, in a different message.

Also on Friday, Zelensky stated to the press he would press Sir Keir to enter the PURL scheme, under which partner nations purchase military equipment from the United States to provide to Ukraine.

While applauding the UK's consistent assistance for the Ukrainian government, he remarked it should send a clear signal that it would engage in the initiative, as well as impose more measures on the Russian Federation.
